Politiken's AI fact box credits a novelist with books he didn't write

Danish daily Politiken ran a Saturday portrait of an acclaimed novelist with a fact box made by an AI tool. The box credited him with two books he did not write. One was another author's short story collection. It listed a literary prize he never won and tied another prize to a novel by a different writer. It also got the year he joined the Danish Academy wrong. Staff had used an open AI search instead of the paper's archive-based tool, and nobody checked the result. Politiken put a long correction on the article and printed one on Monday. Its editor-in-chief apologized, and management told staff the internal AI guidelines would be revised.
