Lawsuit says an AI-made threat report branded a startup a spy front

On December 30, 2025, security firm Koi published a report calling Zoomcorder, a meeting recorder from startup MeetingTV, a front for a Chinese criminal group. Security vendors and network providers worldwide then blocked MeetingTV's domains as malware infrastructure. MeetingTV sued Koi, its researchers and Palo Alto Networks, which had bought Koi. The complaint alleges Koi used a large language model to produce the report and published its hallucinated findings as fact. It says the key link was a browser extension that does not exist. Koi later edited the post to remove the references. Palo Alto defended Koi's research and expects the courts to settle it.
