Hunted a day too early

AI search answer gives an Idaho hunter the wrong season opener

Wardens in southeast Idaho caught a waterfowl hunter hunting one day before the season opened. He said he got the opening date from an online search. The search had returned an AI-generated answer with the wrong date. Wardens found the answer drew on a proposal that was never adopted, not the final rules. Idaho Fish and Game then warned hunters not to rely on AI to interpret its regulations. Its staff found other errors, including rules for a similarly named river in Arkansas. Wyoming's wildlife agency said AI results had presented failed bills as law. Officials in Illinois and Maine issued similar warnings.
