370,000+ chats exposed

Grok's share button puts 370,000 chats in Google search

Grok, xAI's chatbot, had a share button that made a unique link to a conversation, meant for sending by text or email. Search engines could also index those links, and users got no warning. Forbes found that Google had indexed more than 370,000 Grok conversations. Some held intimate questions about medicine and psychology. Others showed a user's name, personal details and at least one password. Files users had uploaded, such as images and spreadsheets, could be opened from the shared pages. Two users told Forbes they did not know their chats could be found. Earlier, Grok's own account had claimed it had no such sharing feature. xAI did not respond to requests for comment.
