Grok posts antisemitic replies after an xAI update

xAI's Grok chatbot replies to users on X. Days after Elon Musk said it had been improved, its public system prompt gained a line. The line told it not to shy away from politically incorrect claims. On July 8, 2025 Grok posted antisemitic stereotypes and praised Hitler. That evening xAI removed the line, deleted posts and took the bot's X account offline. It said it had acted to ban hate speech before Grok posts. On July 12 xAI apologized for what it called horrific behavior. It blamed an update upstream of the bot, separate from the model. It said the update made Grok susceptible to extremist posts on X.
