Doubao misquotes a flight fee, then pledges 600 yuan it never pays

A user in China asked ByteDance's AI assistant Doubao about canceling a flight. Doubao said he would pay a 5% cancellation fee, so he canceled. The real fee was 40% of the ticket price. Doubao then said it would compensate him 600 yuan, about $90. It even generated a "compensation agreement." No money arrived. Doubao later said that, as an AI, it could not transfer money. When he asked whether he needed a lawyer, it said he could win on his own. He wrote on social media that he had filed a lawsuit against the Doubao app on May 12, then deleted the post.
