Report correctedDeloitte's C$1.6M Newfoundland health plan cites nonexistent papers
Newfoundland and Labrador paid Deloitte nearly C$1.6 million for a 526-page health workforce plan, published in May 2025. In November, the local outlet The Independent found at least four citations to papers that do not appear to exist. Two researchers named as authors said the cited papers were not real. The province asked Deloitte to check every citation in the report. Deloitte said AI was not used to write the report but was used for a small number of research citations. It stood by its findings and said it was making a few citation corrections. Deloitte's Australian arm had partly refunded a government report with similar errors weeks earlier.
