Court orderA German court holds a clinic to its chatbot's false claims
A clinic's website chatbot booked appointments and answered questions. Asked about the two doctors who run the company, it called them specialists in plastic and aesthetic surgery. They hold no such titles. A consumer association sued. The Higher Regional Court of Hamm treated the chatbot's answers as the company's own misleading advertising, even if the bot had only been given correct data. It ruled the chatbot is not a third party, and ordered the company to stop the claims. Because the question is new, the court allowed an appeal to Germany's Federal Court of Justice.
