ChatGPT falsely says a Norwegian man murdered his children

A Norwegian man asked ChatGPT who he was. It replied that he had killed two of his sons, tried to kill a third and been sentenced to 21 years in prison. None of it was true. The false story was mixed with real details, including how many children he has and his home town. On March 20, 2025, privacy group noyb filed a complaint for him with Norway's data protection authority. It argues the output breaks the GDPR's accuracy rule. It asks the regulator to order OpenAI to delete the output, fix its model and pay a fine. ChatGPT now searches the web for such questions and no longer repeats the claim.
