Amazon pulls AI English dubs of anime after viewers mock them

In late November 2025, Amazon added AI-generated English dubs to several anime on Prime Video without announcing it. They included Banana Fish, which had never had an English dub, and No Game No Life: Zero, which already had a human one. Viewers called the voices flat and mechanical, with glitchy lines and Japanese audio popping in and out. Voice actors condemned the move. One called it a massive insult to performers. Within days, Amazon quietly removed the English AI dubs from several titles. It made no statement. Earlier in 2025 it had said it would trial AI-aided dubbing on a few films.
