Google's AI Overviews insists the year is 2024, not 2025

In late May 2025, people who searched Google for whether it was 2025 got an AI Overview saying it was not. The answer gave the right day and month but said the current year was 2024. Users posted screenshots on X, and reporters at Android Authority and TechCrunch got the same answer. Google fixed it late on May 29 and did not explain the cause. A spokesperson said most AI Overviews are helpful and factual. The spokesperson added that Google was working on an update to address this type of issue.
